Baseball Responds Early, Pulls Away for 18–8 Road Win Over Wake Tech

The Louisburg College baseball team turned an early deficit into a dominant road victory on Wednesday, defeating Wake Technical Community College 18–8.

After falling behind in the first inning, the Hurricanes responded immediately and never looked back, using a big second inning and a seven-run fourth to take control of the game.

Early Response Sets the Tone

Wake Tech jumped out to a 3–1 lead in the opening inning, but Louisburg answered with a five-run second inning to flip the momentum.

The Hurricanes capitalized on timely hitting and defensive miscues, with Brady Paul delivering a two-run double in the inning to give Louisburg a lead it would not surrender.

Fourth Inning Breaks It Open

Holding a narrow lead, Louisburg put the game away in the fourth inning with a seven-run outburst.

The rally was highlighted by Clifton Olmedo's two-RBI double and a three-run home run from Payten Shipman, as the Hurricanes extended their lead to 13–5 and created separation.

Louisburg finished with 18 runs on 13 hits, with multiple players turning in standout performances:

On the Mound

After a tough start, the Hurricanes settled in on the mound.

Anthony Dorner earned the win in relief, working three innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out three. Layton Babb started the game, and Brendan Chamberlain recorded the final outs to secure the victory.

Closing It Out

Louisburg continued to add on in the fifth and sixth innings to keep Wake Tech at a distance, finishing off the 10-run victory and continuing its strong offensive stretch.
