Hurricanes Close Regular Season, Clinch Region Tournament Berth

The Louisburg College baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a three-game series against Cleveland Community College, finishing the year 26-21 overall and 19-17 in Region 10 play. The Hurricanes secured a fourth-place finish in the West Division, earning a spot in the upcoming Region 10 Tournament.

Game 1 – Cleveland CC 17, Louisburg 3

The series opener got away from the Hurricanes early as Cleveland Community College used a big middle innings surge to pull away for a 17–3 win at Frazier Field.

After two scoreless innings, Cleveland broke through with four runs in the third and continued to build the lead with single runs in the fourth and a four-run fifth. The game was put out of reach in the sixth inning, when Cleveland erupted for eight runs to extend the lead to 17–1.

Louisburg managed nine hits on the night, with Reese File and Steven Laurence each providing power at the plate. File connected on a solo home run in the fifth, while Laurence added a two-run homer in the sixth. Laurence finished with two hits and two RBI, while File added two hits and an RBI. Jace Dunn also contributed with two hits.

On the mound, Layton Babb struck out seven over four innings, but Cleveland capitalized on timely hitting and took advantage of defensive miscues to extend innings and create separation.

Despite the setback, the Hurricanes continued to battle offensively, but were unable to overcome the early deficit as Cleveland took the opener.

Game 2 – Cleveland CC 3, Louisburg 2

Game two was a tight, low-scoring battle, with Louisburg coming up just short in a one-run loss.

Cleveland struck first in the opening inning, but the Hurricanes answered in the third when Camden Wilson delivered an RBI single to even the score. After Cleveland regained the lead in the fourth, Connor Wright responded with a solo home run to tie the game at 2–2.

The game remained deadlocked into the late innings before Cleveland pushed across the go-ahead run in the eighth, which proved to be the difference.

Louisburg finished with seven hits, led by Brady Paul, who recorded two hits and scored a run. Wright added two hits along with his home run, while Jace Dunn and Clifton Olmedo also contributed hits.

On the mound, Anthony Dorner turned in a strong start, allowing just two runs over five innings. The bullpen held Cleveland in check for much of the game, but a late run slipped across as the Hurricanes were unable to find the equalizer in the final frame.

Game 3 – Cleveland CC 17, Louisburg 13

The series finale turned into a high-scoring affair, with both teams combining for 30 runs and 32 hits.

Cleveland jumped out to an early lead with a big first and second inning, but Louisburg refused to go away.

The Hurricanes rallied with three runs in the second and five more in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 12–10. Jace Dunn (3 hits, 2 RBI), Connor Wright (2 hits, RBI), and Troy Daniels (3 hits, 2 RBI) led the charge, while Reese File scored three runs and reached base multiple times.

Despite the offensive push, Cleveland responded with another big inning and held on late to secure the win.

Season Summary

Louisburg showed resilience throughout the weekend and the season, battling in close games and producing offensively across the lineup. The Hurricanes' ability to compete in tight contests and generate runs in bunches helped them earn a postseason berth.
