Hurricanes Finish 2026 Season with Region Tournament Appearance and Multiple All-Region Honors

KINSTON, NC - Louisburg College baseball wrapped up the 2026 season with a 26-23 overall record and a 19-17 mark in Region 10 play, earning a fourth-place finish in the West Division and a trip to the Region 10 Tournament.

The Hurricanes battled through one of the toughest schedules in the region and showed consistent offensive firepower throughout the spring, finishing the season with 477 runs scored, 516 hits, and 80 home runs as a team.

Louisburg opened postseason play in Kinston against East Division champion Brunswick Community College and nearly pulled off an upset against one of the top pitching staffs in the region. The Hurricanes grabbed an early 2-0 lead behind Reese File's solo home run and aggressive baserunning, but Brunswick walked it off in the ninth inning for a 3-2 victory.

Anthony Dorner delivered one of his best outings of the season in the tournament opener, striking out 11 over six innings while allowing just two hits. Reese File led the offense with three hits and a home run, while Jace Dunn and Brady Paul also added hits in the tight battle.

Facing elimination the next day against Pitt Community College, Louisburg jumped out early with a four-run first inning highlighted by a two-run home run from Jace Dunn. Dunn finished the game with two home runs and three RBI, while Brady Paul, Hayden Fones, Steven Laurence, and Graham Wike all recorded multi-hit performances. Pitt eventually used a big middle innings stretch to pull away, ending the Hurricanes' season.

Despite the postseason losses, the 2026 season featured several major individual accomplishments and one of the most productive offenses in recent program history.

Offensive Leaders

Sophomore slugger Jace Dunn turned in one of the best offensive seasons in Region 10, hitting .377 with 19 home runs, 63 RBI, 18 doubles, and an .806 slugging percentage. Dunn's breakout year earned him All-Region 10 DII First Team and Region 10 West First Team honors.

Clifton Olmedo also earned First Team All-Region recognition after batting .394 with 56 hits, 54 RBI, eight home runs, and a .483 on-base percentage. Behind the plate, Olmedo caught 46 games and led the team with 340 putouts.

Brady Paul was one of the most complete players in the lineup all season, hitting .408 with 78 hits, 55 RBI, 23 doubles, and 26 stolen bases. Paul earned All-Region 10 DII Second Team and Region 10 West First Team honors after leading the Hurricanes in batting average and hits.

As a team, the Hurricanes stole 153 bases and hit over .330 collectively, putting pressure on opponents both offensively and on the basepaths.

Pitching Staff

Louisburg's pitching staff showed improvement throughout the season, particularly during conference play.

Anthony Dorner emerged as one of the team's most reliable starters, posting 78 strikeouts in 66.2 innings and earning Region 10 West Second Team honors.

Simon Martone added 57 strikeouts across 50 innings, while Layton Babb struck out 64 hitters in 47.2 innings. Cade Currin contributed both at the plate and on the mound, earning two wins while also batting .500 in limited appearances.
