Louisburg College Tekken 8 Teams Shine in NJCAAE Season and Postseason Play

The Louisburg College Esports Tekken 8 teams wrapped up an exciting and competitive season, showcasing exceptional skill and perseverance through both regular season and postseason play in the NJCAAE.

Runter Dominates the Regular Season

Sophomore standout Kemon Jones, known in competition as Runter, delivered an outstanding season, finishing with a 9-2 match record and an impressive 28-8 game record. Competing primarily with his trademark fighter Azucena, Runter demonstrated consistency and composure throughout the season, securing a #5 national ranking at the conclusion of regular season play.

His strong showing earned him the #7 seed in the NJCAAE National Championship tournament, where he faced ThomasXD from Finger Lakes Community College, the #8 seed. The matchup lived up to expectations, with both players trading rounds in a tense best-of-five series. Despite Runter’s determination and precise execution, he narrowly fell 3-2 in a back-and-forth set that capped off a remarkable season.

Runter’s success places him among the nation’s top collegiate Tekken competitors and reinforces Louisburg’s growing reputation as a program capable of producing elite-level players.

SergeantBlaze Battles Through a Tough Schedule

On the second Tekken 8 roster, Don Holder, known as SergeantBlaze, faced one of the toughest schedules in the country. He finished the regular season 3-5, with a 10-17 game record, showing grit and growth against the best opponents in the NJCAAE. Four of his regular season matches came against #1-ranked Monroe Community College, providing invaluable experience and testing his adaptability in high-pressure situations.

In postseason qualifiers, Holder faced #2 Shelton State Community College for tournament seeding. Despite the challenge, he maintained composure and advanced into the NJCAAE National Championship bracket as the #8 seed.

Holder opened the tournament with an emphatic 3-0 sweep over #9 Highland Community College, displaying confident play and precise execution. In the quarterfinals, he faced the top-seeded Shelton State CC once again. While the final score read 3-0 in favor of Shelton State, every game went down to the wire—each decided by the final health bar, underscoring just how tightly contested the set was.

Building Momentum for the Future

With both players making strong postseason appearances and competing among the top collegiate talent nationwide, Louisburg College’s Tekken 8 program continues to establish itself as a serious contender within NJCAAE competition.

Head Esports Coach Michael Statum praised both competitors for their dedication, sportsmanship, and continued growth throughout the season.
