Hurricanes Sweep Wake Tech in Region 10 Doubleheader
The Louisburg College softball team continued its strong start to Region 10 play Wednesday, sweeping a conference doubleheader at Wake Technical Community College with 9–5 and 17–0 victories.
With the sweep, the Hurricanes improved to 17–5 overall and 4–0 in Region 10 play, continuing to showcase one of the most explosive offenses in the region.
Game One – Louisburg 9, Wake Tech 5
Louisburg jumped out early and never looked back in the opener, scoring four runs in the first inning to set the tone.
Allie Boone led the offensive attack with a huge performance, going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, and three RBI while scoring three runs. Boone's first-inning RBI double got the Hurricanes on the board, and she later added a solo home run in the fifth to extend the lead.
Brittany Gingrich also delivered a key hit early, driving in two runs with a double in the first inning as Louisburg quickly built a 4–0 advantage.
The Hurricanes added three more runs in the fourth inning. Boone drove in another run with a single, Emily Clay followed with a sacrifice fly, and another run crossed on a Wake Tech error to push the lead to 7–1.
Louisburg finished with eight hits in the game, including doubles from Boone, Gingrich, and Aubre Moore.
In the circle, Magen Daniels earned the win after striking out eight batters over four innings. Grace Arnold provided solid relief before Reece Pickett recorded the final out to secure the save.
Game Two – Louisburg 17, Wake Tech 0
The Hurricanes' offense exploded in the second game as Louisburg rolled to a 17–0 run-rule victory in five innings.
Louisburg wasted no time getting started, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding five more in the second to quickly put the game out of reach.
Reece Pickett powered the offense with a monster game, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, and four RBI.
Leigh Anna Carter added a two-run home run during the Hurricanes' big first inning, while Madisen Barringer drove in two runs with a pinch-hit single later in the game.
Louisburg finished with 14 hits, with multiple contributions throughout the lineup. Allie Boone, Brittany Gingrich, Savannah Miller, Aubre Moore, and Sarah Hess all recorded hits while the Hurricanes were aggressive on the basepaths, stealing several bases throughout the contest.
In the circle, Caylee Stevens started the game and allowed just two hits over three scoreless innings while striking out three. Kaylie Cook finished the shutout, throwing two scoreless innings to close out the run-rule victory.

The Hurricanes will return home for their home opener on Saturday, March 14, when Louisburg hosts Southwest Virginia Community College for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
