Softball Sweeps Catawba Valley in Dominant Home Doubleheader
LOUISBURG, NC — Louisburg College softball stayed red-hot on Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader over Catawba Valley Community College with a 3-0 shutout in game one followed by a commanding 15-0 run-rule victory in game two.
The Hurricanes combined strong pitching with explosive offense to control both ends of the twin bill.
Game 1: Louisburg 3, Catawba Valley 0
Louisburg relied on timely hitting and a strong performance in the circle to secure the opener.
The Hurricanes broke through in the second inning when Bailey Radford launched a solo home run, followed by an RBI from Reah Lee to make it 2-0. Louisburg added an insurance run in the fourth on an RBI single from Aubre Moore.
In the circle, Reece Pickett set the tone with five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven. Grace Arnold closed out the final two innings to complete the shutout.
Offensively, Louisburg tallied 12 hits, with Lee leading the way with three hits, while Allie Boone and Sarah Hess each added multi-hit performances.
Game 2: Louisburg 15, Catawba Valley 0 (5 innings)
The Hurricanes left no doubt in game two, erupting for 15 runs on 13 hits in a dominant run-rule win.
Louisburg got on the board early with a two-run home run from Reece Pickett in the first, then exploded for eight runs in the second inning to take complete control. The big inning was highlighted by a grand slam from Heather Ryden, who finished with a massive day at the plate.
The Hurricanes continued to add on with runs in the third and fourth, including a second home run from Ryden to cap off her six-RBI performance.
Allie Boone also had a standout game, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Pickett and Reah Lee each drove in multiple runs.
In the circle, Magen Daniels delivered a dominant outing, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits.
With the sweep, Louisburg continues to build momentum with another strong all-around performance.
