Hurricanes Roll Past Fayetteville Tech in Doubleheader Sweep
LOUISBURG, NC — Louisburg College softball continued its dominant run on Thursday, sweeping Fayetteville Technical Community College in convincing fashion with 15-1 and 9-1 victories.
The Hurricanes combined for 24 runs on 19 hits, using explosive innings in both games to secure the sweep.
Game 1: Louisburg 15, Fayetteville Tech 1 (5 innings)
After a slow start, Louisburg's offense erupted late to run away with game one.
Trailing early, the Hurricanes broke things open with a four-run third inning before exploding for 10 runs in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Heather Ryden led the charge with four RBIs, while Reece Pickett added three hits and two RBIs, including a triple. Savannah Miller homered and drove in two runs, and Allie Boone contributed two RBIs as part of a balanced offensive effort.
In the circle, Pickett was dominant, allowing just one hit and one run over four innings while striking out eight. Kaylie Cook closed out the game with a scoreless inning.
Game 2: Louisburg 9, Fayetteville Tech 1 (5 innings)
Louisburg carried that momentum into game two, using a big third inning to take control.
After tying the game in the second, the Hurricanes scored four runs in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from Sarah Hess, an RBI triple from Boone, and a two-run home run from Bailey Radford.
Louisburg added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the run-rule victory.
Kennedy Linhardt had a strong game at the plate with two hits and an RBI, while Radford led the team with two RBIs. Boone and Hess also contributed key hits in the win.
In the circle, Magen Daniels delivered a complete-game performance, allowing one run on nine hits while striking out nine.
With the sweep, the Hurricanes continue to build momentum as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.
