#24 Hurricanes Sweep Brunswick, Stay Hot Heading Into Final Series
Bolivia, NC — Louisburg College softball continued its strong push toward the postseason on Wednesday, sweeping Brunswick Community College with 11-6 and 13-4 victories on the road.
With the sweep, the Hurricanes improve to 15-1 in conference play (33-7 overall), securing first place in the region standings while holding the No. 24 spot in the latest NJCAA rankings.
Game 1: Louisburg 11, Brunswick CC 6
Louisburg built an early lead and used a late offensive surge to pull away in the opener.
The Hurricanes took control behind home runs from Brittany Gingrich, Allie Boone, and Bailey Radford, building a 6-0 advantage through six innings. Brunswick responded with a five-run sixth to tighten the game, but Louisburg answered immediately.
In the seventh, the Hurricanes delivered the knockout punch with five runs, highlighted by a two-run home run from Reah Lee and another two-run shot from Gingrich. Heather Ryden added an RBI double in the inning to cap the scoring.
Gingrich led the offense with three hits and three RBIs, while Boone also drove in three. Ryden had a big day at the plate with four hits, and Lee added two RBIs.
In the circle, Reece Pickett worked six innings before Kaylie Cook closed it out.
Game 2: Louisburg 13, Brunswick CC 4 (5 innings)
The Hurricanes carried that momentum into game two, using a big middle innings surge to secure the run-rule victory.
Louisburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first behind RBIs from Reah Lee and Gingrich before Brunswick tied the game in the second.
The Hurricanes responded with a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Reece Pickett, an RBI double from Lee, and a three-run home run from Savannah Miller.
Louisburg added four more runs in the fifth to put the game away. Heather Ryden drove in two runs in the inning, while Boone and Pickett added RBIs to cap the scoring.
Ryden finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Pickett and Lee each drove in three runs. Miller added three RBIs on her home run as part of a balanced offensive effort.
In the circle, Magen Daniels tossed a complete game, allowing four runs while striking out eight.
