Hurricanes Rally Twice to Sweep Pitt CC, Cap Historic Regular Season

LOUISBURG, NC — No. 24 Louisburg College softball closed out the regular season in dramatic fashion on Friday, sweeping second-place Pitt Community College with 5-4 and 10-6 victories.

The Hurricanes (35-7 overall, 15-1 Region 10) battled back in both games, showcasing resilience and timely hitting to finish the regular season atop the conference standings.

Game 1: Louisburg 5, Pitt CC 4
Louisburg erased an early deficit and walked it off in the opener.

Pitt jumped out to a 4-0 lead through two innings, but the Hurricanes chipped away. Two runs came across in the fourth on Pitt errors, and Emily Clay pulled Louisburg within one with a solo home run in the sixth.

In the bottom of the seventh, Louisburg completed the comeback. After putting runners on, Reah Lee delivered the game-tying and go-ahead runs with a clutch two-RBI double, sealing the 5-4 win.

Reece Pickett went the distance in the circle, allowing just four hits and striking out four to earn the win.

Game 2: Louisburg 10, Pitt CC 6
Game two followed a similar script, as the Hurricanes rallied from a five-run deficit to secure the sweep.

After taking an early lead on a solo home run from Pickett, Louisburg fell behind 6-1 through four innings. The Hurricanes responded with a three-run fourth, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Heather Ryden, to cut into the lead.

Louisburg tied the game in the fifth, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning and key situational hitting. The Hurricanes then took control in the sixth, scoring three runs to pull ahead for good.

Pickett added another RBI in the win, while Brittany Gingrich contributed multiple runs and strong at-bats. Louisburg also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks.

In the circle, Magen Daniels delivered a strong relief performance, shutting down Pitt over the final 3.1 innings to secure the win.

With the sweep, the Hurricanes clinch first place in Region 10 and carry momentum into the postseason after defeating the No. 2 team in the standings.

Louisburg now turns its attention to postseason play after an impressive regular season marked by consistency, power, and late-game execution.
