Hurricanes Claim Region 10 Championship, Advance to Districts
MARION, NC — No. 24 Louisburg College Softball (38-7) capped off a dominant postseason run by winning the Region 10 Championship, going 3-0 in the tournament and defeating Richard Bland College 5-3 in the title game on Saturday.
With the championship, the Hurricanes punch their ticket to the district round and will now host Delaware Tech (28-14) out of Region 19 on Friday, May 8 at 3pm and 5pm for a chance to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.
Louisburg showcased its balance all weekend—timely hitting, dominant pitching, and composure in key moments.
Game 1: Louisburg 8, Richard Bland 1
The Hurricanes opened the tournament with a statement win, powered by a dominant outing in the circle from Magen Daniels.
Daniels was nearly untouchable, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings.
Offensively, Louisburg broke things open with a three-run third inning and never looked back. Savannah Miller delivered a two-RBI double, while Brittany Gingrich and Leigh Anna Carter each added home runs.
The Hurricanes added four more runs in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.
Game 2: Louisburg 4, Pitt CC 2
In a matchup between the top two teams in the region, Louisburg leaned on power and pitching to advance.
Allie Boone got the Hurricanes on the board early with a solo home run in the first, and Reece Pickett delivered the key blow with a two-run homer in the fifth to extend the lead.
Pickett was equally strong in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just two runs on five hits.
Louisburg held off a late push from Pitt to secure the 4-2 win and a spot in the championship game.
Championship Game: Louisburg 5, Richard Bland 3
The Hurricanes completed the sweep of the tournament with a composed performance in the championship game.
After falling behind early, Reece Pickett tied the game with a solo home run in the first inning.
Louisburg took control in the third when Reah Lee delivered a clutch two-RBI triple, followed by an RBI single from Savannah Miller to make it 4-1. Allie Boone added an RBI triple in the fourth to extend the lead.
Richard Bland cut the deficit to two in the fifth, but Louisburg's pitching held firm down the stretch.
Magen Daniels started the game and struck out six, while Pickett came on in relief to shut the door, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings to secure the championship.
Louisburg's championship run highlighted the team's depth and ability to execute in big moments, finishing off a regular season where the Hurricanes went 15-1 in conference play and 33-7 overall.
