Women's Basketball back in action

After almost a month off for the Christmas holiday the Louisburg College women's basketball team will be back on the court this Saturday, January 14th at Bryant and Stratton College (Va).

The first half of the season saw the Hurricanes get off to a hot start winning their first 5 contests and finishing the fall semester with a 7-5 record. Some key players stood out in the first 12 games. Kandace Daniels and Trinity Smith are leading the backcourt for the Canes with both averaging double figures. In the front court, the team is led in rebounding by Freshman Center, Chloe Rush and Sophomore Forward, Nia Whorley. As a team the Hurricanes are averaging 70.9 points per game and holding their opponents to just 58.4 points per game.

"Our team put in a lot of work to get ready for the season. While we were not perfect in the first half of the season, I am really pleased at the focused effort of the team and if we keep growing and improving as the season progresses I feel like we could contend in Region X," said Head Coach Jason Rasnake about his team's start to the season.

January will see the Hurricanes play in 7 contests including 3 teams currently in the top 4 of the region. Louisburg will kick off the new year on Saturday, January 14th at 6pm against Bryant & Stratton College. The game will be played at Atlantic Shores Christian School in Chesapeake, Va and live streamed [HERE]
