Hurricanes Roll Past Wake Tech in Convincing Home Win

LOUISBURG, N.C. — The #21 Louisburg College Women's Basketball team put together one of its most complete performances of the season Thursday night, pulling away early and cruising to a 91–56 Region 10 victory over Wake Technical Community College inside Roger Taylor Arena.

After a steady opening quarter, the Hurricanes took control in the second period and never looked back. Louisburg outscored Wake Tech 20–9 in the second quarter and followed it with a dominant 29-point third quarter, stretching the lead to nearly 30 before coasting through the final frame.

Sophomore forward Nyla Powell anchored the Hurricanes on both ends, finishing with a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds. Powell was relentless in the paint, converting at the rim and getting to the free-throw line consistently as Louisburg built its advantage.

The Hurricanes also received strong production from the perimeter. Khouri White knocked down four three-pointers on her way to 20 points, while Shalawn Yates added 12 points and filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds and three steals. Jewel Brewington provided steady play at the point, contributing 11 points and four assists, while Quincie Toran chipped in seven points off the bench.

Louisburg's depth continued to be a strength, as nine different Hurricanes scored, and the team finished the night shooting 46.9% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and 77.8% at the free-throw line. Defensively, the Hurricanes forced 13 turnovers and controlled the glass with a 48–19 rebounding advantage.

The win improves Louisburg to 13–3 overall and 8–2 in Region 10, keeping the Hurricanes firmly in the conference title hunt as the regular season enters its final stretch.
