Chester, Teachy Lead Canes to Victory Over Wake Tech

Raleigh, N.C. — Louisburg College volleyball traveled to Wake Tech's North Campus for a Region 10 pod day on Saturday, coming away with a split after facing Forsyth Tech and Wake Tech.

The Hurricanes opened the afternoon against Forsyth Tech and struggled to find rhythm, falling 3–0 (25–17, 25–6, 25–16). LC was led by Naomi Chester with four kills and 14 digs, while Ashia Teachy added three kills, an ace, and two blocks. Joella Estes anchored the defense with 13 digs.

Louisburg bounced back in the second match of the day, sweeping host Wake Tech 3–0 in front of the home crowd. The Hurricanes won a thrilling first set 30–28 before cruising to 25–16 and 25–16 victories.

The offense clicked with a .291 team hitting percentage and 31 total kills. Naomi Chester paced the attack with 12 kills, five service aces, and 11 digs for 17 points. Teachy contributed seven kills on .700 hitting with three blocks, and freshman Valery Bravo chipped in seven kills of her own. Setter Jayleen Barco Cruz directed the offense with 19 assists, four digs, and two service aces.

With the split, Louisburg moved to 6–5 overall and 2–3 in Region 10.

The Hurricanes return to action on Tuesday, September 30, when they travel to Fayetteville Tech Community College.
