Hurricanes Earn Home Sweep Over Central Carolina
Louisburg, N.C. — Louisburg College volleyball put together a strong team effort Monday night inside Roger Taylor Arena, sweeping visiting Central Carolina Community College in straight sets (25–13, 25–19, 26–24).
The Hurricanes attacked efficiently and controlled the pace early, then held off a late surge from the Cougars in the third set to close out the match.
Sophomore Naomi Chester led the Louisburg offense with eight kills and a .259 hitting percentage, while Valery Bravo matched her with eight kills and added two aces to finish with a team-best 10 points. Ashia Teachy was dominant at the net, recording six kills on .667 hitting and three blocks.
Setter Jayleen Barco Cruz guided the attack with 23 assists and four aces, while also collecting 13 digs and five block assists in a standout all-around performance. Isabella Thigpen and Joella Estes anchored the defense with six and nine digs, respectively, and combined for three service aces.
Louisburg hit .276 in the opening set and finished the match with 26 total kills, 16 service aces, and 18 team blocks.
With the win, the Hurricanes improved to 9–10 overall and 2–7 in Region 10 play.
Louisburg will return to action Wednesday, October 15th when they travel to take on Richard Bland College at 6:00 p.m.
