Hurricanes Battle Hard in Four-Set Road Match at Cape Fear

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Louisburg College volleyball team put together a gritty effort on the road Monday night, pushing Cape Fear Community College in several close sets before falling 3–1 (20–25, 23–25, 25–20, 18–25).

Sophomore Naomi Chester led the Hurricanes with a strong all-around performance, finishing with 18 kills and 13 digs while hitting .161 on 56 attempts. Ashia Teachy provided an efficient spark at the net, adding nine kills and four total blocks, while Valery Bravo chipped in seven kills and 12 digs.

Setter Jayleen Barco Cruz paced the Louisburg offense with 29 assists to go along with 25 digs and an ace. Libero Joella Estes anchored the back row with 19 digs and contributed both an ace and five assists, helping the Hurricanes stay competitive in extended rallies.

After dropping the opening two sets, Louisburg showed resilience in the third, hitting .172 as a team and controlling the tempo to take the set 25–20. The Sea Devils regrouped in the fourth to close out the match, but the Hurricanes' fight throughout highlighted continued growth down the stretch of Region 10 play.

Louisburg returns home for Sophomore Night on Wednesday, October 22, hosting Wake Tech Community College at 6:00 p.m. inside Roger Taylor Arena.
