Hurricanes Clinch Region 10 Regular Season Title With Win Over Wake Tech
Raleigh, NC — The Louisburg College men's soccer team delivered when it mattered most, securing a 2-1 victory over Wake Technical Community College on Monday afternoon to clinch the Region 10 regular season championship. With the win, the Hurricanes remain undefeated in league play and improved to 8-0 overall, 6-0 in Region 10.
Wake Tech struck first, breaking through in the opening half to take a 1-0 lead into the break. Louisburg wasted little time responding in the second half, as midfielder Euan Russell netted the equalizer to bring the Hurricanes back level at 1-1.
With 24:14 left in the match, the Canes found the decisive goal. forward Arata Tanaka finished off a setup from Diego Ortiz Enriquez, putting Louisburg ahead 2-1. From there, the defense anchored by goalkeeper Hayden Michalak held strong, shutting down Wake Tech's late pushes to seal the victory.
The result not only extends Louisburg's unbeaten streak but also locks up the program's Region 10 regular season championship — a testament to consistent performances across a balanced roster.
Next up for the Canes is a home scrimmage vs Virginia Peninsula CC this Wednesday, October 8th at 2pm.
